What we get called out for.

A breaker that keeps tripping

Once is an event; every day is a fault. It's either a genuine overload, a failing breaker, or a short somewhere in the run — we trace which rather than just resetting it and leaving.

Dead outlets or half a room with no power

Usually a tripped GFCI upstream, a failed backstab connection, or a loose neutral. Cheap to fix, and a real fire risk if it's the loose connection and it's left alone.

Lights flickering or dimming

When lights dim as the AC or the dryer kicks on, that's a load or connection problem, not a bulb problem. If it's happening house-wide, it can point at the service or the main lugs, and it's worth looking at soon.

Panel and fuse-box work

Old fuse boxes, undersized 60- and 100-amp services, panels with no space left, and the brands that no longer pass inspection. We assess what you have and what the house actually needs.

GFCI and AFCI protection

Kitchens, baths, garages, laundry and outdoor outlets are supposed to be GFCI-protected. Plenty of older houses around here aren't. It's a small job that removes a real shock hazard.

Switches, dimmers and smart switches

Switches that buzz, three-ways that only work one way, and smart switches that need a neutral the box doesn't have.

Outdoor, garage and workshop circuits

Exterior outlets, flood and security lighting, garage and shed circuits, and dedicated runs for a freezer, a compressor or a well pump.

Not on the list? It's still probably us — book online or call (313) 288-7189 and describe it.

Sparks, a burning smell, a hot panel, or someone got a shock? Call — don't book a window.

Those aren't scheduling problems. If you see sparks or smoke, smell burning plastic, feel heat on a panel or an outlet cover, or anyone in the house took a shock, kill the breaker if you can reach it safely and call us right away so a person can talk you through it. If there's fire or anyone is hurt, call 911 first.

Local conditions

What electrical looks like around Flint.

Housing around Flint runs to older Genesee County housing stock alongside newer Grand Blanc, Fenton and Davison construction, and that mix is the whole story on electrical work here: the older stock brings undersized services, ungrounded two-prong outlets, no GFCI protection where code now wants it, and panels from brands that no longer pass an inspection, while the newer builds bring their own thing — arc-fault breakers that nuisance-trip and not a spare slot in the panel for the EV charger you just bought. Our technicians work both ends of that range in the Flint area every week.

Electrical questions

Answered straight.

My breaker trips every few days. Is that actually dangerous?

A breaker doing its job is a good sign — but a breaker that trips repeatedly is telling you something is wrong, and the two common causes are very different. An overloaded circuit is an inconvenience you can plan around. A short or a loose connection is a fire risk, and the breaker is the only thing standing between it and a bad night. Worth having someone find out which one you have.

Do I need a panel upgrade, or just a repair?

Not everyone with an old panel needs a new one. What matters is the service size, the condition of the bus and breakers, whether there's room to add what you want, and whether it's one of the brands that's no longer considered safe. Our technician looks at the actual panel and tells you where it stands — a repair, a sub-panel, or a full replacement — with the price for each path that applies.

Can you install an EV charger?

Yes, and the first thing we check is whether your panel has the capacity for it, because that's what decides the real cost. If it does, it's a dedicated 240-volt circuit and a mount. If it doesn't, you'll hear that before you spend anything, not halfway through.

Are your electricians licensed and insured?

Every technician who comes to your door is insured and background-checked, and electrical work is performed to the licensing requirements of your state and jurisdiction. If your job needs a permit, we'll tell you at the quote.

Can you hang a ceiling fan where there's only a light now?

Usually — but a standard light box isn't rated to carry a spinning fan, so it needs a fan-rated box. That's the part homeowners get surprised by. We bring the box, and the price you approve includes it.

Will you fix work someone else did badly?

Often, yes, and we see plenty of it. We'll tell you honestly what's salvageable and what needs redoing. What we won't do is sign off on something unsafe to keep a number down.
